Gangplank believes community can only be effective when its participants are engaged and invested in the outcomes. Community events are encouraged and the doors are always open for interaction. Collaboration fosters a deep connectedness to place and engagement on all levels - civic, volunteering, small business patronage, family, work, etc. Because of this connection to place, community members are excited about giving back and support the next generation of entrepreneurs, students and leaders.
For example, Gangplank provides business support, training and infrastructure for both new and existing businesses, as well as creates programs with local schools to challenge traditional ways of thinking. This gives participants of all ages a voice and the knowledge they have the ability to change the system. A new level of transparency in government and business is created by the increasing dialogue between participants and these entities.
